I WILL DEFEAT ALL ODDS TO CONTINUE MY EDUCATION AFTER GIVING BIRTH”

“I will defeat all odds to continue my education after giving birth,” says a pregnant adolescent school girl in Central Region. Between January to June 2017, over Fifty-seven thousand (57, 000) teenage pregnancies were recorded nationwide in Ghana. Additionally, a total of 31 teenage pregnancy-related deaths were also recorded during the period.
“At the time, I did not know I was pregnant. I had stomach aches and for two months I was not menstruating. I told my sister and she told my aunt. She said I was pregnant but did not want to tell the truth. But I did not believe I was pregnant but then it all became visible”
Sherry is determined to continue her education at all costs. One of her sources of inspiration is the headteacher who has helped her cope with the difficult situation. It’s the constant pep talks that keep Sherry motivated. She has also made new friends and that is another good reason to stay in school. She is encouraging everybody.
